Just 3 stops in MRT (Metro) and 15-minute walk from Orchard Road, we can find the Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery, well known as one of landmarks of Buddhist architecture in Southeast Asia.
The monastery, founded in 1898, is the older Buddhist monastery in Singapore.
“Twin Grove of the Lotus Mountain” (Mandarin name of the monastery) was recently upgraded and it is the only Buddhist monastery in Singapore gazetted as a National Monument, symbolizing its historical and architectural value.
Don’t miss the Dragon Light Pagoda, the latest addition to the monastery. Built in 2000, this Chinese tower is 29 meters high and was modeled from the blueprint of the 800-year-old Shanfeng temple pagoda in Fujian, China.
