Emerald Hill is a historic neighborhood located near Orchard Road, between the Somerset MRT and Newton MRT stations.

The area was a nutmeg plantation in the 1860, until a disease destroyed the crops, and the area was subdivided and developed into terrace houses for wealthy Chinese and Peranankan merchants and their families at the turn of the 20th Century.

Take a walk slowly to appreciate different architecture styles from Chinese Barroque to Art Deco, beautiful Peranakan ceramic tiles, carved doors, detailed plaster moldings and shuttered windows.

Don’t miss the opportunity to relax in one of the bars near Orchard Road or experience delicious teas at Tea Bone Zen Mind (reservation required).
