Sri Mariamman Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore, was built in 1827.
It is dedicated to the goddess Mariamman, known for its power to cure diseases.
At the time, it was the only temple authorized to celebrate Hindu marriages.
Full of beautiful details stands out the great tower of the entrance called "gopuram".
The temple is a national monument.
The most recent restoration, in 2010, with 20 artists brought in from India, cost $4-million, and included repainting all the stone deities.
